Techniques to Include in Your Presentation
That Increase Repeat Bookings

with Mike Domitrz, CSP

Mike DomitrzYou know that the best marketing comes from people who have experienced you and like you. How can you get even more of these people?

It starts with engaging them in your audience and including everyone. And it ends with demonstrable results — so clients and prospects can see the change you bring.

In our next teleseminar, Mike Domitrz will share how he has accomplished this in his own programs. Don’t miss it!

Read more about this session at the bottom of this newsletter, then register or pre-order the MP3. Note: Everyone who registers for the teleseminar will get the MP3 recording of the session for free.

Intensive — Emphasize Your Distinction to Create a Unique Brand

Larry Winget says to be successful you must leverage your uniqueness to serve others. Joe Calloway says you need to create a category of one.

This is not easy. How do you identify your uniqueness? Then how do you promote it so you are the only go-to person in that area?

Since we typically take our unique factors for granted, it can take someone else’s ideas to prompt our thinking about how our experiences are different enough to make us in demand. These three recordings will help you think about your talents differently.

Miscellaneous Tips

Article on the current state and future of book publishingSteve Hughes

Seth Godin has a great post this week for authors and would-be authors about the current state and future of book publishing: “The shift is real and it’s forever (books by the numbers).”

Good article about leadership trainingSarah Layton

With so many consultants coaching and training in leadership skills, this MIT Sloan article might be helpful. It sheds light on how to be a good leader without all the charisma that everyone thought was needed. Researchers from Harvard studied Facebook extensively and wrote: “When the social media giant started tracking employee exits, ‘all bets were on managers,’” the authors wrote. Turns out, employees left “when their job wasn’t enjoyable, their strengths weren’t being used, and they weren’t growing in their careers.”

This would be good information as you are coaching those managers that are perhaps not so charismatic.

Creating content that gets tractionVickie Sullivan

I discovered a great example of the strategic use of videos in JP Sears, comedian and insightful self-help author of How to Be Ultra Spiritual. His brilliance reminded me of a great strategy that goes far beyond being funny.

JP explained his 13-year journey into becoming an overnight sensation. He started out like everyone else, making “sincere” videos on his insights. They were good, but they didn’t reach the critical mass appeal he now enjoys (100 million views and counting).

What made the difference: He changed the messenger. Instead of a standard stand-up routine, he created a character. He’s still hilarious, and his videos got shared because he transformed content into a personification. How he did that and what we can apply to our own situations:

  • People recognized his character. JP played into what some “non-enlightened” folks must think of personal growth devotees. He took stereotypes to the limit. And yet you can tell he wasn’t mean about it. Both sides could laugh along.
  • Make absurdities a teaching point. Most of his videos start pretty tame and then go off the deep end. By going to the extreme, JP makes his point. You get the message without hearing the lecture. Everybody wins. (To see JP in action, watch his video about taking offense.)

The upshot: In the land of never-ending content, it isn’t enough to be relevant or insightful. If you want your stuff to be seen and shared, you have to create a visceral reaction. Check out JP’s Facebook page. Seriously, he’s too funny!

Travel Tips

Shop award costs before transferring milesRebecca Morgan

Sometimes we use an award ticket for an engagement, or for a business development trip.

If you have points/miles that are transferrable to various airlines from a credit card account, make sure to check the individual airlines for the least amount needed for a flight. For example, I could book a Cathay Pacific business class non-stop ticket San Francisco to Hong Kong for 50K miles through Alaska Air, and 70K miles through Cathay Pacific. Same flight. Or 32.5K with American’s Mileage Saver, although it includes 1 stop.

So if you can transfer miles from your credit card “bank” of points, you’d be smarter to transfer to Alaska once you know there is availability.

(Editors’ note: Rebecca provided a detail-filled teleseminar on how to earn the most valuable miles/points for your travel goals in her session, “Crafting Your Reward Miles/Points Strategy and Getting the Highest Value from Travel Rewards.”)

Techniques to Include in Your Presentation
That Increase Repeat Bookings

with Mike Domitrz, CSP

Mike DomitrzAs professional presenters, we know how to subtly embed previous client results into our programs so audience members know what else we offer. We know how to introduce our products without coming across as “sales-y.” If we’re savvy, we’re always looking for ways to increase our business from each booking.

Mike will share a potpourri of techniques he uses successfully to create presentations which engage even reticent attendees, and turn them into word-of-mouth marketing champions. He’ll discuss how he uses technology during the presentation to create connection and to capture golden marketing copy. He’ll describe how he ensures everyone feels included, and how to create new material. And he’ll provide a simple, but underused, tool to keep your audiences with you at every step.

In this program, you will learn how to:

  • use technology to keep the client bringing you back and to prove transformation has taken place
  • be inclusive from the stage so you’re not leaving anyone out
  • create new content without scripting the new material word-by-word
  • use the skill of “call & response” to engage audiences in a completely different manner
