Miscellaneous Tips

Give yourself away as a prizeJolene Brown

What fun I’ve had with this one! The sponsor of my webinar elects to do a “drawing” from those virtually attending. The “give-away” is me! The winner receives a 1:1, 60-minute Zoom consulting time with me. (Of course the webinar and consulting focus is limited to my webinar topic/expertise.) And the webinar sponsor is paying for this first consulting hour. What I’ve found is that the “winner” is so delighted by the value, they ask to continue the consultation under my terms.

Tax professional recommendationRebecca Morgan

If you’re scrambling to get your taxes finished before the extended deadline, or would like to have a tax professional who understands your professional speaking, training, or coaching business, then contact professional speaker and business tax expert Gary McKinsey.

Move online ads out of the wayCharlie Hawkins

If you’re like me, reading articles on some Internet sites (such as Fast Company) is difficult when ads — especially animated ones — fill a portion of the screen. Solution: shrink the window by using your cursor to grab the left or right edge of the window until the ad disappears, leaving only the article you want to read.

Technology Tips

GoDaddy sites hackedBeth Terry

If your website is hosted at GoDaddy, this is important. I have noticed I often get news like this from Wordfence up to a week before the company who was hacked announces it. So take the usual precautions.

Test your website speedRob Shore

As our websites are, arguably, the most important business assets we own, especially now, making sure it’s optimized for speed is crucial.

Today Wordfence (website security for Wordpress sites) announced the launch of their new free testing site: “Our customer base is global, and just a 400 millisecond drop in our own site speed can cost us six figures. So we are highly motivated to maintain a fast and responsive website. We started looking for a utility to test our real-world site speed from around the world and we couldn’t find one. So we built it.”

It’s mighty impressive.

Bob Rathbun

Plan to be “off-camera” with slides/video etc. It is very stressful being on camera for long periods of time. Getting off the screen enables you to look at notes and relax a bit. Gives the audience a break as well. And when you are on camera, lock in!

Sell Beaucoup Books with Sponsorship
with Charmaine Hammond, CSP

Charmaine HammondYou’ve marketed your book(s) to your mailing list, social media contacts, clients, and before and after your talks, and moved some books. You’ve done a slew of media interviews — perhaps even hiring a publicist — to yield few book sales. You’ve sold tens of books at book signing. You’ve run out of ideas.

Have you tried getting sponsorships? Sponsors can not only buy quantities of books, but can sponsor other elements of your book promotion. Charmaine has found sponsors for book-related clothing, printing, marketing and even a 32-foot motor home for her book tour.

Additionally, she’ll share why supporting a charitable cause can help you attract sponsors, creating a triple win.

Charmaine will share practical steps that work you can put into action immediately.

You will learn how to:

  • use sponsorship to help you create profitable book (and speaking) events, launches and tours
