I am starting a new professional association, and would like input on membership Web sites. I’ve looked at Membergate and Memberstar but would love to hear recommendations, concerns and advice on membership sites.

I’m doing research on this too. Memberstar is very ugly and seems to allow very little modification. MemberSpeed seems expensive. So does MemberGate. I’m leaning toward using Joomla along with our other programs like 1shopping cart for autoresponds, etc. We have dozens of autoresponds already created there so don’t want to have to reinvent that. The other program that might be useful is aMember.

I have also done a fair amount of research and highly recommend subhub.com. They are a dedicated membership Web site platform based in the UK. They have US tech support, and 60% of their member Web sites are based in the US.

Subhub also has a large collection of free articles and videos on the subject of member Web sites.

I have talked with their tech support and feel comfortable that they are a viable option in the industry.

Take a look at: InfoSocia.com. Gives you a lot MORE than most membership software.

Contact Sheri McConnell...she’s a real pro at this!

I have one friend who signed up with Membergate a year ago — at the time she barely knew how to turn a computer on. The Membergate support team is apparently fantastic for newbies.
