Here are the answers to my query about healthy choices in airport food:

-- Rita Risser

I'm not much of a fan of counting calories - when I lost 40 pounds, it was by cutting out carbs and eating lots and lots and lots of Caesar salads with chicken or fish. Ask them to leave off the croutons. I have found these salads everywhere I go. Even McDonalds has a salad, and as long as you use very little dressing, it is good.

When all else fails, my standby is one of McDonald's salads. It's the grilled chicken Caesar -- no croutons -- and instead of the Caesar dressing, ask for the Newman's Own Lite Balsamic Vinaigrette. Easy to grab and take on the plane as well, when you're flying coach. Only about 250 calories, and you get some protein.

-- Vickie Falcone

Nuts are a great source of protein, leave you feeling satisfied (unlike carbs) and are so healthy! Pre-packaged nuts are high in sodium so I prefer to go the the "per-pound" vendors and mix 1/2 unsalted with 1/2 salted to minimize sodium and maximize taste.
